Remove the pages that should not be there

Blank backs from duplex scans, duplicated covers, an appendix from last year. Name the pages, keep the rest, and leave the original untouched.

Deleting is a copy operation

The pages you keep are copied into a new document; the file you started with is never rewritten. Surviving pages stay vector and selectable, but their printed page numbers are now out of sync with the actual page count.

The pages everyone ends up deleting

Duplex scanners produce a blank back page for every single-sided sheet, so a 40-page report becomes 78 pages with 38 of nothing. Scanned bundles often repeat the same cover two or three times. Slide exports leave an empty final page. And appendices survive long after the appendix stops being true. None of these need a full re-export — they need a page list and a second file.

Because deletion copies the survivors rather than editing in place, a mistake costs you nothing: the original is still on disk, byte for byte, and you can run the tool again with a corrected range.

How to delete pages

  1. Add the PDFEvery page appears as a tile in the page map, so you can count from the same numbering the viewer shows.
  2. Name the pages to removeType 2, 6, 11-13. Removed pages are struck through in the preview before you commit to anything.
  3. ExportThe new file contains everything else, renumbered from 1, and downloads straight to your machine.

Numbering, links and what to check

Removing page 3 of 20 means the old page 4 becomes page 3. Anything that referred to the old numbering — a table of contents, “see page 14”, a link annotation aimed at a page index — no longer points where it used to. Before sending the file, scroll the contents page and spot-check any cross-references. If the document has a printed index, budget a minute to fix it.

FAQ

Can I undo a deletion?

The original file is never changed, so “undo” is simply running the tool again with the right range. Keep the source PDF until you are happy with the result.

Can I delete the first and last page at once?

Yes. Enter 1, 20 for a 20-page file. Ranges do not need to be contiguous, and order in the list does not matter.

Does it detect blank pages automatically?

No. A blank page to a human can be a page with a white background image or a nearly invisible header, and automated detection quietly removes those. Naming pages explicitly is slower but far more predictable.
